The triptych Re-generation represents the tree of life by implementing artificial intelligence and technology through the pelvis of three generations of women within one family – daughter/granddaughter, mother/daughter and mother/grandmother.
The installation is made of pieces of light boxes that are connected one after the other with cables, and with the help of electricity they function and change their aesthetics. The objects are covered with gauze, reflecting the mutual connection through tenderness and fragility. The light boxes are implemented with „SCOBY” material (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) and kombucha, which is created through the fermentation of tea from dried plants. The material consists of bacteria that resembles human skin to the touch when fresh. On this occasion, it is presented in the work in a dehydrated form, which hints at transience, that is, the metamorphosis of a living matter. An X-ray of the pelvis hints at a sensitive region of the body and thus connects with reproduction and the ancestors of one’s family. Through the motif that includes the internal organs of the chosen region of the body, Adrienn examines her heritage from a biological and genetic point of view. In addition to the reproductive organs, the pelvis also houses the intestines, which contain many different types of microbes, the balance of which is necessary in the regulation of immunity and health. Finally, the „SCOBY” material that covers the light box corresponds through vitality, just as a drink made from microorganisms like the kombucha mushroom has a stimulating effect on the increase of energy in the human body.
